General Pharmacy serves as the foundation of pharmaceutical education, introducing students to the fundamental concepts, scientific principles, and professional values that define the practice of pharmacy. This textbook has been developed in accordance with the latest curriculum prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and is intended to meet the academic requirements of Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm.) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) students. The subject matter has been carefully structured in a logical sequence to facilitate conceptual understanding and progressive learning. Comprehensive coverage has been provided on the evolution and scope of pharmacy, prescription interpretation, pharmaceutical calculations, dosage forms, routes of drug administration, packaging and labeling of pharmaceutical products, storage and dispensing of medicines, pharmaceutical legislation, professional ethics, patient counselling, community pharmacy, and other essential aspects of contemporary pharmacy practice.

Mrs. Saragada Sreehitha currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at Siddhartha Institute of Pharmacy, Narapally, Hyderabad in the Department of Pharmaceutics. She earned her Undergraduate degree in 2017 at Unity College of Pharmacy, Raigir, Bhongir, Yadadri Bhongir , and completed her Postgraduate studies in 2023 at Unity College of Pharmacy, Raigir, Bhongir, Yadadri Bhongir. With experience in teaching and research, she has made significant contributions to the field. Her scholarly work includes Publications and research articles. She has presented Oral and Poster presentations at various Conferences apart from academic activities, due to her keen interest in social services, she has been deeply engaged with activities like Blood Donation Camp, Cancer Camp, and General Camp activities within the nearest Village.
Dr Shiva Kumar Yellanki is an accomplished pharmaceutical scientist with over 18+ years of experience in teaching, research, and academic coordination. He is currently serving as a Professor at the Geethanjali College of Pharmacy, Hyderabad, Telangana. His work spans diverse domains of pharmaceutics, including Novel drug delivery systems, and optimization of formulation. He has published more than 40 research/review articles in reputed international journals and contributed to 1 text book in leading scientific publications. His research focuses on nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems, targeted delivery, and formulation development. He also holds 1 patent related to design patent. Deeply committed to academic excellence, he has guided several postgraduate research scholars and served as an active member of professional bodies such as the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) & Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA). With his dedication to quality education and innovative research, Dr. Yellanki continues to inspire emerging pharmacists and researchers, shaping the future of pharmaceutical sciences.
Dr. Ratnesh Kumar Mishra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Madhav University, Sirohi, Rajasthan. He holds B.Pharm. (2010), M.Pharm. (2013) (Pharmaceutics), and completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2026. He has more than 12 years of teaching and research experience. He has published 7 research papers in reputed national and international journals and filed 3 patents. He has actively participated in various conferences, seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs. His areas of interest include pharmaceutical research, drug delivery systems, pharmaceutical education, and healthcare advancement.
Dr. M. Sakthivel currently holds the position of Professor and HOD Department of Pharmaceutics Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Pharmacy, Perambalur district, Tamilnadu, India. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1999 from Ultra college of Pharmacy, Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. Affiliated with the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. Subsequently he had completed his postgraduate studies in 2001 at The Institute of Pharmacy, Annamalai University, Chidambaram. Dr. M.Sakthivel, obtained his Ph.D., in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Annnamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamilnadu in 2014. With over 23years of experience in teaching and research. He has made significant contribution to the field. He scholarly work includes the publications of over 50 research articles. Furthermore he has provided guidance to more than 45 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate. And acknowledged as a guide for doctoral candidates pursuing Ph.D., by The Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. And also holding a life membership in Association of Teachers of India and Inspector of Pharmacy Council of India. Dr. (Mrs.) Anuradha B. Sakhare is currently serving as an Associate Professor at AIMS College of Pharmacy, Dombivli, Maharashtra, affiliated with the University of Mumbai. She completed her B.Pharm. from D.S.T.S. Mandal's College of Pharmacy, Solapur (Shivaji University, Kolhapur), M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutics) from K.B.H.S.S. Trust's Institute of Pharmacy, Malegaon (Savitribai Phule Pune University), and earned her Ph.D. from JJTU University, Rajasthan. She has 16 years of academic experience and 3 years of industrial experience. She has also completed a Clinical Research course from Symbiosis College, Pune. Her academic contributions include several national-level research publications, two Indian Design Patents, and a textbook on Physical Pharmaceutics-II. Dr. Sakhare is an active member of the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI). She has been honored with the "Nari Shakti" Award by a Human Rights Organization in recognition of her contributions. She has actively participated in more than 10 conferences and over 20 Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), demonstrating her commitment to professional development, leadership, training, and academic excellence. With her extensive teaching, research, and professional experience, she continues to make valuable contributions to pharmacy education and the profession.
