About Book

It gives us immense pleasure to present the textbook “Systemic Pharmacology–I,” designed to provide students with a clear, comprehensive, and systematic understanding of the pharmacological principles governing the actions of drugs on various physiological systems. The book has been developed with the objective of bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and their practical applications in clinical and pharmaceutical practice. The content has been organized in a logical and student-friendly manner, beginning with the fundamental concepts and gradually progressing towards the detailed pharmacology of important therapeutic drug classes. Special emphasis has been placed on the classification of drugs, mechanisms of action, pharmacological effects, therapeutic uses, adverse drug reactions, contraindications, and clinically significant drug interactions. Wherever appropriate, complex concepts have been simplified through illustrative examples, comparative tables, schematic diagrams, and flowcharts to facilitate effective learning and long-term retention. The textbook aims to promote conceptual clarity rather than rote memorization and encourages students to develop a scientific understanding of drug actions and their therapeutic relevance. The incorporation of clinically oriented explanations further enables learners to appreciate the relationship between pharmacological principles and evidence-based drug therapy.
