About Book

The Text Book of Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry is a comprehensive academic resource designed to provide pharmacy students with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical inorganic chemistry and analytical techniques. The book systematically covers the principles of pharmaceutical analysis, including different analytical methods, preparation of standard solutions, and the role of primary and secondary standards in pharmaceutical testing. It explains various types of errors encountered during analysis, methods to minimize them, and concepts such as accuracy, precision, and significant figures that are essential for reliable experimental work. Detailed discussions on impurities in pharmaceuticals, their sources, regulatory significance, and official limit tests for substances such as chloride, sulphate, iron, arsenic, lead, and heavy metals help students understand quality control procedures in the pharmaceutical industry. The text also elaborates on acid-base chemistry, buffer systems, pH calculations, isotonicity, and their pharmaceutical applications in intravenous fluids and ophthalmic preparations. Major physiological electrolytes and their therapeutic importance are discussed with emphasis on electrolyte replacement therapy and acid-base balance. Various volumetric analytical techniques such as acid-base titrations, non-aqueous titrations, precipitation titrations, gravimetric analysis, complexometric titrations, and redox titrations are explained with principles, procedures, standardization methods, and pharmaceutical assays. The book further includes detailed information on important inorganic pharmaceutical compounds such as antacids, acidifiers, antimicrobials, expectorants, emetics, haematinics, antidotes, and astringents, covering their chemical properties, storage, preparations, uses, and marketed formulations. A dedicated chapter on radiopharmaceuticals introduces the basics of radioactivity, therapeutic and diagnostic applications of radioisotopes, and safe handling procedures according to regulatory guidelines. With its student-friendly approach, practical orientation, and coverage aligned with pharmacy curricula, the book serves as an excellent reference for undergraduate pharmacy students, teachers, researchers, and professionals seeking knowledge in pharmaceutical inorganic and analytical chemistry.
