Fundamental pharmaceutical calculations, including metric systems, alligation, proof spirit, isotonic solutions, percentage and ratio calculations, geometric dilution, and scientific notation, are presented with clarity and practical relevance. Essential principles of posology, including dose calculations based on age, body weight, and body surface area, are discussed using standard methods. The text introduces pharmaceutical dosage forms by explaining routes of drug administration, classification of dosage forms, and the characteristics and importance of active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients. Comprehensive chapters on powders, tablets, and capsules describe their classifications, advantages, disadvantages, official preparations, and basic methods of manufacture. Monophasic liquid dosage forms for both internal and external use are explained with definitions, preparation methods, examples, and therapeutic applications.
