About Book
Integrating Organic Farming and Smart Agriculture for sustainable Resource Use (A Sustainable approach to Food Production) is a book has been prepared based on the articles prepared by authors from different fields. The book with vivid articles can be used to know more on the domain and to apply the same in the practical field. Almost all farming is now under the treatment of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides towards crop production. But the traditional practice was knowledge based and on the domain of organic kind used by village people. In some pockets of remote villages, people till date using traditional practice for farming agricultural and horticultural crops. They use many items produced by their domestic animals and in the farm house they us the traditional varieties of crops rather than hybrid varieties. So, cultivation and harvesting may be a different way using organic kind of resource rather than chemicals. It is a way to mitigate many problems and maintain the health of the ecosystem. Keeping the view in mind we are approaching to introduce the organic farming everywhere to maintain the health hygiene and ecosystem with green technology.

Debabrata Das (b.1969), Ph.D. in Botany (Forest Ecology) is presently working as Associate Professor and Head, Department of Botany, Government General Degree College, Lalgarh, Jhargram, West Bengal. He is presently working in the field of Environment and Sustainable Development programme. He has authored more than 146 scientific research papers, 4 books and 17 edited books. Primary aim of his work is to identify ecological problems and to solve these through proper management. He is trying to work on knowledge dissemination activities and biodiversity conservation programme under different capacities with students and experts from school education to higher education level. He was involved in different Medicinal Plants Conservation Areas (MPCAs) research in West Bengal in connection with Forest Department, Govt. of West Bengal. He is now engaged in Organic farming and smart agriculture even protocol development for modern nurseries. He is now giving the ideas to the feeder persons on the setting of butterfly garden, rooftop gardens and kitchen gardens. Lay out made by him was very interesting and many Colleges have setup their gardens with specific plants from him on voluntary basis s per their choice. He is also acted as expert in the field of Ph.D. final thesis evaluation and in viva-voce programme in Botany with guide and other teachers. He is now acting as examiner in the UG examination programme for Agriculture and horticulture papers. He also done work on external examiner for practical papers in the field of UG honours in Agriculture.
Pampi Ghosh, (b. 1974), Ph.D. in Botany (Mycorrhizae) but specialization with Angiosperm Plant Taxonomy is presently working as Assistant Professor (S-3) and Head, Department of Botany, Seva Bharati Mahavidyalaya, Kapgari, Jhargram, W.B. She is presently working in the field of soil-plant- microbial interactions, ethnobotany, medicinal plants, mycorrhizae, green practice, organic farming, and plant taxonomy. She is a Jhargram district mentor of MGNCRE programme ‘swachhta and sustainability’ directed by MGNCRE, Govt. of India. She authored more than 46 scientific research papers in national and international journals. She has published one book and 9 edited books. Primary aim of her work is related to organic farming and waste management through green technology. She also working in the field of floriculture and gardening along with vermiculture for resource management.
