About Book

Pharmacology forms the scientific foundation for the rational use of medicines and serves as a vital bridge between the basic biomedical sciences and clinical practice. A comprehensive understanding of drug actions, mechanisms, therapeutic applications, and adverse effects is indispensable for every pharmacy student, enabling the safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medications in patient care. Systemic Pharmacology-I has been developed to provide students with a clear, concept-oriented, and clinically relevant understanding of pharmacological principles governing major organ systems. This textbook has been prepared in accordance with the latest Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) syllabus for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) program. The contents are presented in a logical sequence, beginning with the fundamental principles of systemic pharmacology and progressing through the pharmacology of the autonomic nervous system, cardiovascular system, renal system, endocrine system, and autacoids. Emphasis has been placed on explaining the mechanisms of drug action, pharmacological effects, therapeutic indications, adverse drug reactions, contraindications, and recent advances in pharmacotherapy.
