The title of the book is " PHARMACOGNOSY -I". The writers' original intent for the book was to present a compiled database for PHARMACOGNOSY-I that was simple to understand. Pharmacognosy-I forms the foundational framework for the study of crude drugs derived from natural sources such as plants, animals, and minerals. It emphasizes the identification, classification, cultivation, collection, processing, and preservation of medicinally important natural substances, with particular focus on plant-based drugs. The subject integrates traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches, covering morphology, taxonomy, microscopy, and phytochemical screening of crude drugs. It also introduces students to organized and unorganized drugs, adulteration and evaluation techniques, and the role of pharmacognosy in drug discovery and development.
About Author
Dr. Ashok Kumar Uppuluru is currently working as a Professor & HOD of Pharmacognosy at Max Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khammam, Telangana. He has a long luminous Academic career of over twenty four years in various institutions of Telangana in different designations. He recieved his Doctoral degree from Mewar University, Rajasthan, M.Pharm.(Pharmacognosy) from Bharati Vidyapeeth's Deemed University, Poona College of Pharmacy, Pune and B.Pharm. from Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Nalgonda (affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad). Dr. Ashok has filed three Indian Patents, published about 30 quality research papers in peer reviewed Journals and presented many research papers in National and International conferences. His major areas of research are Phytopharmaceuticals and New drug discovery through Herbal Drug Research. He is a life member of Association of Pharmaceutical Teacher's of India (APTI). Dr. Ashok with his enormous knowledge and international exposure inspired many students to achieve their goals.
Mrs. Sayed Sana, M Pharm., (PhD) is currently serving as Assistant Professor at Telangana social welfare residential pharmacy college for women, Mahabubabad, Telangana India. She has completed her Masters degree in Pharmacy from University college of Pharmaceutical sciences, Kakatiya University Warangal. She holds over 11 years of distinguished experience in teaching, research and academic leadership with her major research of area in Anticancer activity. Mrs. Sana has filed 2 Indian patents and published about 10 quality research papers in peer reviewed journals and presented many research papers in National and International conferences.
