About Book
The book, Introduction to Machine Learning in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Theory), is designed for undergraduate pharmacy students, introducing them to the key concepts of ML. It covers basic ideas and progresses to supervised and unsupervised learning methods, emphasizing their applications in the pharmaceutical field. Organized into five units, the book starts with foundational concepts like features, training data, model evaluation, and the bias–variance trade-off. It then covers regression for predicting outcomes, classification and evaluation measures (sensitivity, specificity, precision, AUC), decision trees and ensemble learning (including Random Forests), and concludes with unsupervised learning and K-Means clustering.
About Author
1. Mr. Rahul Ahirwar is an Assistant Professor at Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, and a dedicated academician in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He completed his M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, RGPV University, Bhopal, and qualified the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT). He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and is actively involved in teaching, research, and academic mentoring.
He is also recognized as a YouTube educator (Target GPAT) and GPAT mentor. His professional contributions include authorship of books, review articles, book chapters, and patents. He is also the author of several books, including A Textbook of Basics of Python Programming for Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Chemistry GPAT Previous Year MACQs, and Pharmaceutics GPAT Previous Year MACQs.
2. Mohd Rashid Raeen is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Scope Global Skills University, Bhopal, with Pharmacology as his area of specialization. He holds an M. Pharm in Pharmacology from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal, and a B. Pharmacy degree from the same university. He has previously served as an Assistant Professor at Raghukul College of Pharmacy, gaining valuable experience in pharmacy education and classroom teaching. His academic and research interests include pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, and experimental research.
3. Tarun Soni is an Assistant Professor at RNTU, Bhopal, and an academician in the field of
Pharmaceutical Sciences. He completed his B.Pharm from Sagar Institute of Research and Technology–Pharmacy, Bhopal, and M.Pharm from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences,
RGPV, Bhopal. He has also worked as a Pharmacist at AIIMS Bhopal, gaining valuable professional exposure in the healthcare sector. His academic and research interests include pharmaceutical analysis, herbal medicines, quality assessment, and research methodology.
4. Ms. Meenakshi Panchal is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at NRI Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Bhopal, and is a dedicated academician in the field of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She completed her M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, RGPV University, Bhopal, and has more than 4 years of teaching experience in pharmacy education. She has contributed to pharmaceutical research through several publications in national and international journals and has also contributed a book chapter on nanotechnology-based topical treatment for skin diseases.
