About Book
The book “Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry” has been designed in accordance with the vision of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes conceptual clarity, application-based learning, skill development, and professional relevance. It provides pharmacy students with a strong foundation in analytical chemistry and inorganic pharmaceuticals, bridging the gap between fundamental chemical principles and their practical applications in pharmacy.
The book is organized into five well-structured units, beginning with an introduction to pharmaceutical analysis, sources of impurities, and regulatory aspects of quality control. Students are guided through acid-base chemistry, buffer systems, and electrolyte balance to understand their physiological significance in therapy and formulation. Further, the book explains titrimetric and gravimetric analytical techniques, including acid-base, redox, precipitation, complexometric, and non-aqueous titrations, along with their pharmaceutical applications.
Special emphasis is placed on gastrointestinal agents, antimicrobials, radiopharmaceuticals, and miscellaneous therapeutic inorganic compounds such as expectorants, emetics, haematinics, antidotes, and astringents. This makes the book both scientifically rigorous and directly relevant to professional pharmacy practice.
To promote holistic and multidisciplinary learning, the book connects concepts from chemistry, medicine, toxicology, and regulatory science, enabling students to appreciate the broader role of pharmaceutical inorganic chemistry in healthcare. It also incorporates problem-solving exercises, case examples, and application-based discussions that encourage critical thinking and practical application—skills strongly emphasized under NEP 2020.
