About Book

Advanced Drug Delivery Systems is a comprehensive textbook designed to provide in-depth knowledge of modern drug delivery technologies and their applications in pharmaceutical sciences. The book presents the fundamental principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics that govern the design and performance of advanced drug delivery systems. It enables students to understand, develop, and evaluate a wide range of controlled and targeted drug delivery approaches aimed at improving therapeutic efficacy, patient compliance, and treatment outcomes. The text begins with an introduction to controlled drug delivery concepts, release kinetics, and formulation strategies, followed by detailed discussions on oral and parenteral controlled-release systems. It further explores advanced delivery platforms, including implantable drug delivery devices, transdermal therapeutic systems, ocular inserts, intrauterine devices, and innovative vaccine delivery technologies. Special emphasis is placed on emerging approaches involving molecular biology and biochemical engineering, highlighting bioadhesive systems, nasal drug delivery, and colon-targeted formulations. This textbook serves as an essential resource for undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students, researchers, and professionals seeking a thorough understanding of contemporary and future trends in drug delivery science.
