About Book

Pharmaceutical Analysis And Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry, form the kind of bedrock that a pharmacy graduate’s understanding of drug quality, purity, and chemical behaviour is built on. This book is written especially for First Semester B.Pharm students(As per NEP Syllabus), with the belief that these two disciplines, even if they look separate in scope, are actually best learnt together — because the principles of analysis are constantly used when studying inorganic pharmaceuticals, and the chemistry of inorganic compounds only feels real once one knows how their identity, purity, and strength are determined. The book is arranged into five units. Units I and III, are devoted to Pharmaceutical Analysis, dealing with the base ideas of pharmacopoeial standards, errors and ways to reduce them, the theory and hands-on practice of volumetric analysis — acid-base, redox, complexometric, and precipitation titrations — plus the guiding principles for the assay of pharmaceutical substances. The purpose here is to build the kind of analytical thinking and laboratory skills a pharmacist is expected to have, while keeping everything anchored in Indian Pharmacopoeial methods, and also supported by relevant calculations and examples worked out step-by-step. Units II, IV, and V take on Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry. It follows the path from the general principles that govern the use of inorganic compounds in medicine to particular groups of pharmaceutical agents, like gastrointestinal agents, acid-base balance, dental products, topical agents, essential and trace minerals. Also, the chemistry that supports their formulation, stability, and therapeutic action. In all of this, more weight has been given to structure–activity relationships, methods of preparation, and the actual role these compounds play in pharmaceutical care, rather than simply asking the student to memorize facts. Theory part has been followed by List of MCQs/Viva questions in Unit wise for the ready reference of the students at their exam preparation times. In addition, practical experiments are also included as per the new NEP syllabus with all the essential sub topics’ descriptions viz., aim, principle, procedure, table contents, formulae etc., All three parts i.e. Theory contents, Viva/MCQs and Practical experiments in one book will certainly benefit the students. Every attempt has been made to show the topics in a way that feels strict yet reachable. Diagrams, reaction schemes, and self-assessment questions are placed at the end of each unit, so students can reinforce learning and also get ready for university examinations. The wording stays simple and direct, for students who are meeting these subjects for the first time, but the depth needed at undergraduate level is not lowered, it’s maintained. It is hoped that this book will work not just as an exam aid, but as a reliable companion during the early stages of a student’s pharmacy journey, supporting both conceptual clarity and practical competence. Suggestions and corrections from teachers and students, are always welcome, because they help a lot in making future editions better. — Author
