About book : VIBGYOR (Rainbow) is a pot of gold. Phytochemicals are the chemical compounds present in fruits and vegetables and play an important role in therapeutic nutrition. Rainbow is a combination of seven colours and VIBGYOR stands for violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. According to Astrology, the seven colours represent nine planets. Fruits and vegetables which are orange and yellow in colour contain beta-carotene, lycopene, potassium, and vitamin C. These nutrients reduce age-related macular degeneration, prostate cancer, lower LDL cholesterol and blood pressure. It is important to add VIBGYOR food in our diet. Each colour of fruits and vegetables has its own share of vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and antioxidants, and eating all of them is what your body needs to thrive. Eating a well-rounded diet by combining a variety of colourful fruits, vegetables and legumes creates a synergistic effect that helps to promote good health and lower disease risk. All these issues have been covered under the five chapters of the book.
