About Book
“Fundamentals on Electric Vehicles and Heat Transfer Management with Hands-on Exercise using ANSYS Fluent CFD” presents a clear, application-focused introduction to EVs and their thermal management. It blends core theory, numerical problems, and practical CFD simulations to build a complete learning pathway. The book begins with EV fundamentals and heat transfer principles-conduction, convection, and radiation-before addressing key thermal challenges such as battery overheating, non-uniform temperature distribution, and cooling inefficiencies. It provides an in-depth analysis of Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS), introducing phase change material cooling using CFD techniques.Further, it examines thermal behaviour in electric motors, power electronics, and HVAC systems, emphasizing efficiency, durability, and passenger comfort. Emerging trends such as AI-driven control, advanced materials, and innovative cooling methods are also introduced. A dedicated section on thermal modelling demonstrates how ANSYS Fluent predicts temperature fields, flow behaviour, and system performance. Hands-on exercises enable readers to simulate real-world problems and develop practical CFD skills.Overall, the book serves as a concise, self-contained book for understanding and designing efficient EV thermal management systems through both theoretical and computational approaches.
Through “Fundamentals on Electric Vehicles and Heat Transfer Management with Hands-on Exercise using Ansys-Fluent CFD,” we aim to provide a comprehensive resource that integrates theory, simulation, and practical applications. Our goal is to equip students, researchers, and professionals with the knowledge and tools required to contribute effectively to the rapidly evolving field of electric mobility and thermal management.
