About Book
About the Book
Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry (Theory) is a comprehensive textbook designed for students of the first year of the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme. The book is prepared in accordance with the BP106T syllabus and aims to provide a clear understanding of the fundamental principles of pharmaceutical analysis, inorganic medicinal compounds, and their applications in pharmacy.
The book presents the subject in a systematic and student-friendly manner, beginning with the basic concepts of pharmaceutical analysis and gradually progressing towards analytical techniques, errors, impurities, limit tests, and quantitative analysis. Important concepts such as accuracy, precision, significant figures, standards, and methods of expressing the strength of solutions are explained to help students develop a strong foundation in analytical chemistry.
The book also covers acid–base chemistry, buffer systems, isotonicity, physiological electrolytes, and the principles and applications of various titrimetric and gravimetric methods. Acid–base, non-aqueous, precipitation, complexometric, and redox titrations are discussed with emphasis on their pharmaceutical significance and analytical applications.
The inorganic medicinal compounds included in the syllabus are presented with their important properties, uses, and pharmaceutical relevance. The book covers gastrointestinal agents, antimicrobial agents, radiopharmaceuticals, expectorants, emetics, haematinics, and selected poisons and antidotes. These topics help students understand the role of inorganic compounds in pharmaceutical preparations and therapeutic applications.
An effort has been made to maintain a logical flow of information and to explain the subject in simple, clear language. The book is intended to support classroom teaching, self-study, and examination preparation while encouraging students to understand the underlying principles of the subject.
This textbook will be useful for B.Pharm first-year students, teachers, and learners seeking a structured introduction to Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry. It is hoped that the book will help students build conceptual clarity, develop analytical understanding, and appreciate the importance of inorganic chemistry in pharmaceutical sciences.
