About Book

Doping in Sports: Risks, Rules, and Responsibilities is a comprehensive and practical guide designed to address one of the most critical challenges in modern sport — the issue of doping. As competitive sport continues to evolve, the misuse of performance-enhancing substances and methods threatens athlete health, fair play, and the integrity of sport itself. This book provides systematic, accurate, and up-to-date knowledge to promote awareness, prevention, and ethical responsibility. The text covers the concept and history of doping, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations, the World Anti-Doping Code, banned substances and methods, testing procedures, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), and the Biological Passport Program. It also explains the health risks, legal consequences, and long-term career implications associated with doping. Special emphasis is placed on the responsibilities of athletes and coaches, ethical decision-making, and strategies for promoting a clean and doping-free sports culture. Supported by real-world case studies, structured explanations, and practical insights, this book serves as an essential academic and reference resource for students, athletes, coaches, physical education teachers, sports administrators, and researchers. By encouraging informed choices and integrity in sport, it aims to strengthen the foundation of clean, fair, and responsible competition.
