About author : Dr. Ankit Kumar, PhD, M. Pharm, is Director, Krishna Pharmacy College, Bijnor (U.P.) India and is actively involved with teaching and research activities. He has more than 15 years of research experience. His areas of interest are lant-derived drugs constitute major share of different systems of healthcare systems practiced in India. Apart from phytomedicinal, the plants are rich sources of nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical aids, flavouring agents, pesticides and cosmeceuticals. The polyherbal formulations manufactured in India are often questioned for the atheneite of crude drugs used, efficacy of their active principles, safety and clinical validity of formulations and microbial load, as well as, pesticidal residue on herbal raw materials used in formulations. Dr. Kumar has published over 24 research articles and technical papers in international peer-reviewed journals and has authored and edited books, book chapters, and more than 10 popular editorial articles. He also serves as an editor and reviewer of several journals. He has participated in several state, national, and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and symposia and has more than 20 conference papers to his credit. Dr. Myrene Roselyn D’souza, PhD, MPhil, M.Sc., B.Ed, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru, India. She is trained in Science Journalism and is a Certified Career Coach. She has 17 years of experience in teaching and research in biochemistry and has published over 55 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and 12 book chapters. Her research focuses on studying the biochemical responses of plants under abiotic and biotic stress conditions and exploring the medicinal properties of ethnomedicinal plants. Dr. Myrene has guided over 25 M.Sc. student projects and has worked on research projects funded by CSIR and her institute. She is involved in faculty development programs, has organized and participated in several conferences

About book : The book is titled Textbook of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry-I in accordance with PCI requirements. The authors developed the idea for the book as a way to clearly describe a combined database for Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry-I. In addition to educating readers on cutting-edge drug delivery techniques, this book also serves as a resource for professors and students who are trying to understand the fundamental concepts taught in Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry-I. This textbook's primary objective was to offer information in a clear, condensed manner to meet the needs of undergraduate students in compliance with PCI guidelines. This book was written to correspond to the PCI curriculum for undergraduate pharmacy courses as well as provide knowledge about Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry-I to postgraduate students.
