About Book
A Textbook of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics is a comprehensive and student-friendly textbook developed to provide a clear and systematic understanding of the fundamental concepts, principles, mathematical approaches, and pharmaceutical applications of biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics.
Biopharmaceutics explains the relationship between the physicochemical properties of drugs, pharmaceutical dosage forms, and the processes that determine the rate and extent of drug absorption and systemic availability. Pharmacokinetics deals with the quantitative study of drug movement within the body, including absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME). The book presents the subject matter in simple, concise, and easy-to-understand language, progressing from basic concepts to advanced topics. Particular emphasis is placed on developing a strong conceptual foundation.
Important topics such as drug absorption and transport, distribution, plasma protein binding, drug metabolism, renal and non-renal excretion, bioavailability, bioequivalence, pharmacokinetic models, compartmental analysis, pharmacokinetic parameters, clearance, volume of distribution, biological half-life, multiple-dose kinetics, intravenous infusion, nonlinear pharmacokinetics, dosage-regimen design, therapeutic drug monitoring, and pharmacokinetic–pharmacodynamic relationships are covered systematically.
To make learning more effective and engaging, the book incorporates illustrations, flowcharts, tables and chapter summaries. Pharmaceutical and clinical applications are included wherever appropriate to help students relate theoretical principles to practical situations.
The book is primarily intended for B.Pharm students studying Biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics. It will also be useful for M.Pharm students, pharmacy teachers, researchers, and professionals who require a concise yet comprehensive reference for the subject.
Overall, A Textbook of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics aims to bridge the gap between theoretical principles, mathematical concepts, pharmaceutical formulation, and clinical applications, providing readers with a strong foundation for academic study, examinations, research, and professional practice.
